About Rajat Chandra Sarmah
Professional Journey in Engineering
I am an accomplished engineer with over 36 years of experience in power projects across India, having graduated from Assam Engineering College in 1985. I worked in Northeast India, planning, erecting, commissioning, and operating hydro projects. Notable achievements include creating a botanical garden at the Kopili Hydro Electric Project and constructing a bridge over the reservoir at Doyang HEP, connecting local villages.
As an Executive Director, I led various corporate departments including planning, renewables, IT, commercial, and safety and security. I am a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India) and hold a Level C project management certification from IPMA. Post-retirement, I pursued writing, publishing “A Sanguine Tale Unfolding the Life of a Project Engineer,” which won accolades such as the Golden Book Award 24 and Emerging Writer of the Year at KLC 24. I have published four additional works and various articles, poems, and short stories.
