ABOUT RAJAT

Rajat Chandra Sarmah began his writing journey after retiring in 2022, following a distinguished 36-year career as a power engineer, where he led critical projects and corporate departments. His commitment to sustainable development earned him a LEAD International Fellowship sponsored by the Rockefeller Foundation, and he is a Fellow of the Institute of India. Among his proudest achievements beyond the Power House technical works were the creation of a botanical garden at the Kopili Hydro Electric Project and a bridge over the reservoir at Doyang HEP, connecting local villages. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers (India) besides holding a level-C certification in Project Management from IPMA.

Transitioning from engineering to writing posed a unique challenge, but Rajat embraced it passionately and creatively. His debut book, A Sanguine Tale: Unfolding the Life of a Project Engineer, won the Emerging Writer Award at KLC 24 and the prestigious Golden Book Award 24. This book was translated to Spanish , French, and Chinese. The Assamese , Hindi, and Bangla versions are expected shortly. His second book, A New Dawn: Adventure in the Golden Years, became an Amazon Best Seller at No. 1.

Rajat’s literary journey continued with Whisper of the Diverse Tale, a collection of short stories; Behind the Headlines, a thriller; A Symphony of Life, a poetry collection (also an Amazon Best Seller); and Silent verdict (Amazon Best Seller). His latest short story collection, Beneath all this Sky was selected as Fiction Book of the year and won The Dickens Gold Medal for literary excellence with a certificate of honor. He was also awarded the Pensmiytyh award for being selected in the top 100 writers in the national competition By H S Publication. He also co-authored 35 anthologies, some of which are international anthologies and world record anthologies, besides publishing various articles (approximately 25 Nos on current events in various newsportal news portals and regional newspapers, etc.

His accolades include the International Tagore Award on literature 2024, the National Pen Maestro Award, and the 21st Century Emily Dickinson Award. Runners Up—In the PEN TO GLORY national writing competition and 2nd position in the INKSPIRE National writing competition. He was also among the Top 100 Poets of India in the S7 National poetry competition( The highest rated national competition on Google) twice. Rajat regularly shares his reflections on his blog. His work was highly rated in the India Writing Project 2025. He was Featured in New York Weekly, and his poem was recently published in the highly reputed international newsletter, NEW VERSES.
